Prentiss County man captured after Pursuit in Stolen Car
 

On November 15, 2019, Prentiss County Sheriff's Department received a report from a resident of County Road 7131 that his 1998 Chevrolet truck and multiple tools had been stolen by Curtis Ballard Jr. On November 24, Baldwyn Police Department recovered the stolen vehicle. On November 26, Baldwyn Police received a report that a Chevrolet Impala had been stolen from the parking lot of a gas station inside the city limits. Shortly after Prentiss County Investigators located the vehicle just outside the city limits of Baldwyn. After a pursuit that lead through Baldwyn, Wheeler, and Pratts the stolen vehicle crashed into an barbed wire fence just inside Lee County. The driver Curtis Ballard Jr. 49 of Booneville was arrested and charged with Felony taking of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, and Failure to Stop a Motor Vehicle When Officer Signals. Bond was set at $75,000. He was also under supervision by MDOC.  After Further investigation all the stolen tools from County Road 7131 were recovered from a residence inside Lee County. We would like to thank Baldwyn Police and Lee County Sheriff's Department for their assistance in this case.
