Sheriff's Department Solves Rash of Trailer Thefts

The investigation into a recent rash of trailer thefts in Prentiss County has resulted in the arrest of Gary Wayne "Bo" Ward 27 of Baldwyn.  In mid February, the Sheriff's Office started receiving reports of thefts of small pull type trailers and horse trailers.  " We begin to see a pattern and believed that it was likely that the same individuals were responsible for the thefts."  "We started focusing resources trying identify suspects involved in these thefts.  As recently as Tuesday morning, the last theft was reported.  We had identified a suspect and was attempting to locate him.  Late afternoon Tuesday one of our Narcotics Officers spotted the suspect in the Baldwyn area and took him into custody.  The following day, Wednesday morning, the Father of the latest victim located his son's horse trailer at a scrap yard in another county.  The trailer was easy to spot because of it's color, John Deere Green with Yellow wheels  We greatly appreciate the assistance of the public in helping to solve this case before it grew any bigger."

"We have identified where several of the other trailers were taken and disposed of, but are still looking for three or four others.   Those that we haven't located, were nicer trailers that we believe that the person responsible for the thefts may have sold to individuals.  We are asking for the public's help.  Anyone that might have recently bought a trailer in the last couple of months and under somewhat suspicious circumstances or have information concerning this case, please contact the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office at 728-6232 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-877- TIPS.  We are working hard to recover and return to the rightful owners, the remaining trailers."

Ward has been charged with Four Counts of Grand Larceny and his bond has been set at $10,000.

Ward also has warrants from Lee County concerning similiar charges.
