The Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging (TRIAD) along with the Mississippi Department of Human Services Aging and Adult Services recently held it's annual conference in Biloxi September 9-11th. The MLCOA oversees the TRIADS in each County across the State of Mississippi. The annual conference is a means to educate Senior Citizens, Caregivers, Service Providers and SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Council Members about issues facing our Senior Citizens. Several segments of the conference training was presented by Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar and Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson in addition to representatives from Social Security, the Attorney Generals Office, The Department of Human Services and other Service Organizations. The training is provided to help improve the quality of life and Safety of our Senior CItizens. "In 2014 I was elected as the Chairman of the Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging representing the Mississippi Sheriff's Association, placing me in the postion to help Senior Citizens not only on Prentiss County but all across the State."
"Our Senior Citizens are important to me and I believe we should do everything in our power to give back to our Seniors." "Locally we regularly meet with groups of Senior Citizens, teaching them about home safety and security as well as Frauds and Scams. It is important that we help to prevent criminals and con artist from taking advantage of this valuable resource." Prentiss County was well represented at the Conference with SALT Council member Trudy Featherston and Deputy Sheriff/Pastor Ricky Peebles in attendance.
