

Tuesday March 14 Investigator Torie Jumper and Sheriff Randy Tolar visited with youth from area AOP (Adolescent Offender Programs) representing Alcorn, Prentiss, Tishomingo, Tippah and Itawamba Counties and spoke to them concerning crimes related to Juveniles and Firearms and the consequences of these offenses as well as firearms safety. He shared several instances where young people lost their lives dues to carelessness, negligence or simply bad choices concerning firearms or were sentenced to lengthy prison sentences. He explained the seriousness of these laws that could ultimately in which they could be considered adults due to the nature and circumstances of the crime.
Sheriff Tolar stressed that young people often make mistakes and bad choices at an early age that can be overcome by making good decisiions in the future. "We love these kids and its our obligation to do everything in our power to help them become productive citizens". Hopewell MB Church at Rienzi hosted the event.
