Recently the Mississippi Crimestoppers Conference was held in Biloxi. The photo was taken when The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office was recognized with an award for for being the Most Supportive Law Enforcement Agency in the Northern Half of the State. This award was presented to our Department at the Awards Ceremony the final day of the conference and was accepted by Chief Deputy Derrick Pruitt and Deputy Bob Tolar. Sheriff Tolar was unable to attend the Conference due to other commitments. We are very proud of this award and believe that Crime Stoppers is a vital link in our Crime fighting efforts. Crimestoppers of Northeast Mississippi is based out of Tupelo and Tupelo Police Department serves as the host. Recently we were called upon to contribute assistance in the form of providing someone that would help coordinate things within the three counties that border Prentiss County; Alcorn and Tishomingo. Ken Shackleford, who is the Chief of my Reserve Deputies recently retired from his Insurance Business and I believed would do a great job, doing what they were asking of us to do. Ken took on this Position and represents Prentiss County in an outstanding manner. Since his retirement he has also volunteered to help with monitoring Sex Offenders in Prentiss County as well has managing a link on our webpage concerning these Sex Offenders. Ken wasn't able to attend the conference due to recent Knee Surgery. Our website is www.prentisscountymssheriff.com.
