Stolen Car and Rifle Recovered When Deputy Stopped to Render Aide to a Stranded Motorist
 
Early Tuesday moring April 11th, Deputy Wesley Graves made contact with what appeared to be someone on US-45 having vehicle problems. The vehicle was on the side of the road with it's flashers on.
Deputy Graves made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. They advised they were coming from Tenessee headed back home to Neely Mississippi.
The vehicle had a temporary Tenessee tag, so Deputy Graves decided to run the VIN on the 2015 Toyota which came back stolen from Livingston Parish Louisiana. After further investigation Deputy Graves recovered a stolen Rifle from the vehicle, which was stolen from Dyersburg Tennessee.
Kevin Herbert Courtney (46) and Angela Faye Courtney (46) both of Neeley Mississippi were taken into custody and transported to the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department.
Kevin Courtney was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Firearm by Felon. Judge Angela Pounds set his bond at $10,000.00
Angela Courtney was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and other misderneanor charges. Judge Angela Pounds set her bond on the Felony charge at $5,000.00
Deputy Aaron Stolz assisted in the arrest. The cases will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury.
