On Tuesday May 25th The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office hosted its annual Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service at the Prentiss County Justice Center. This week as set aside in the 1960 by President Kennedy to honor Law Enforcement Officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty. We come together on the 15th to honor our very own Deputy Michael Hisaw who was killed in the Line Of Duty in 1999. His parents Jerry and Jo Carol Hisaw have always been so gracious to be our guests of honor each year. This year District Attorney John Weddle was our Special Guest Speaker. We also acknowledged Justice Court Judge Richard Tollison for being responsible for doing some recent landscaping around Michael's Monument in front of the Justice Center. Statistics show that so far this year LE Officers killed in the line of duty are up 4 percent from last year and one of the most recent tragedies have been Officers ambushed while eating at restaurants, seated in their patrol vehicles or bogus calls luring the Officers into Ambushes. Speakers at this service cautioned Officers to always beware of their surroundings even while eating a meal.
